More than 80 volunteers from US teaching institutions and children hospitals have visited Hanoi, HCM City and Nha Trang City to conduct clinical practice and training seminars.

The visit is part of the Project Vietnam Medical Mission Team 2006, sponsored by the California Chapter 4 American Academy of Paediatrics and the Vietnamese American Non-Governmental Organisation Network, according to a press release by the US Embassy in Hanoi on November 6.

US Ambassador to Vietnam Michael W. Marine told the volunteers in Hanoi on November 4 that their dedication and energy "demonstrate again that US-Vietnamese cooperation is vibrant and mutually rewarding." He highly appreciated the efforts made by Vietnamese-Americans who have returned to Vietnam to participate in the humanitarian work.

The project has provided healthcare assistance to vulnerable children and to poor rural communities in over 28 provinces in Vietnam since 1996.
