APL-NOL Vietnam Company presented 2,200 helmets to teachers and students at the Ho Ha Primary School in Binh Thach District, Ho Chi Minh City on January 23.

During the past seven years, APL-NOL Vietnam has given 8,630 helmets worth US$222,800 to Vietnamese pupils under a “Helmets for children” programme, which was launched by the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIPF).

The programme aims to minimize the number of deaths and injuries caused by traffic accidents for children, especially in developing countries.

Greig Craft, president and founder of AIPF, said it is necessary for road users to wear helmets as it helps reduce the number of injuries caused by traffic accidents by 70-80 percent.
