AI hackathon brings Vietnamese engineers in Japan together

VOV.VN - The final round of the Viet Nam Japan AI Hackathon 2025 took place in Tokyo on December 13, bringing together eight outstanding teams selected from the Vietnamese engineering and research community in Japan.

The competition is the first of its kind to focus on highly practical artificial intelligence (AI) solutions and ideas for Vietnamese information technology engineers in the country.

The hackathon was jointly organized by four reputable entities representing the Vietnamese intellectual and technology community in Japan, including the Vietnam AI Community in Japan (VJAI), Brandchie GK, the Vietnamese Academic Network in Japan (VANJ), and the Vietnamese Association for Digital Transformation in Japan (VADX).

The event is designed to promote networking, collaboration and the development of a sustainable AI ecosystem among Vietnamese professionals in Japan.

More than 200 guests attended the event in person, while a large audience followed the competition online. This year’s edition attracted 32 registered teams and was conducted in three rounds. Following the Pitch Day on November 22, which featured 16 teams, eight finalists advanced to the final round held on December 13.

Opening the final, VJAI President Nguyen Phuoc Tat Dat said the hackathon was not merely a competition but an effort to help build a healthy AI ecosystem, providing a space for Vietnamese engineers to connect, experiment and turn ideas into solutions that deliver social value to both Vietnam and Japan.

During the final round, teams presented and demonstrated their products before a judging panel. Several AI-based solutions drew attention, including GPeti Smartwatch by Team MiTa, DoraRoji, an AI robot supporting daily activities developed by Team N.ONE, and a personalized early childhood education solution introduced by Team Iruka Education.

A highlight of this year’s hackathon was the participation of FPT as the Official Technology Partner. Through FPT AI Factory, the group provided access to advanced AI supercomputing infrastructure in Japan powered by NVIDIA H200 GPUs, enabling teams to shorten model training time and develop complex generative AI applications. OpenAI joined the event as an AI sponsor, underscoring the competition’s professional quality and international stature.

At the closing ceremony, Team MiTa won first prize, followed by Team Revenue Is King in second place and Team Iruka Education in third. The additional prize was awarded to Team W・H・O.
