Vietnam confirmed the 39th fatal case of A/H1N1 flu on November 5.
The victim, a 32-year-old man from Lac Son district in the northern province of Hoa Binh, showed signs of fever, cough and sore throat and treated himself at home for two days with a self-prescription. After arriving in southern Tay Ninh province to visit a relative his conditions got worse and the man was diagnosed with an A/H1N1 flu virus-related pneumonia on October 23.
Two days later, he tested positive for the A/H1N1 flu virus. Despite intensive treatment with Tamiflu and antibiotics with the support of breathing aid device, he died on November 3.
By the end of November 5, hospitals in Vietnam had treated 10,665 A/H1N1 patients and 10,402 of them were discharged.
