After heavy rains overnight, Saigoneers wake up to flooded streets

VOV.VN - Saigoneers woke up to flooded street, roads and parking lots, power cuts and other rain related fury Thursday, September 14, report local officials.

Heavy and continued showers that lashed the city on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday resulted in waterlogging in many areas, especially in the district of Binh Thanh (pictured above).

At 8:30am in the morning water was ankle deep in many houses such as this one in the urban area of Thanh Da.

Residents such as Trinh Thi Tham in Block A of the urban area of Thanh Da (above) struggle to get the muddy waters out of their houses.

Muddy waters from overflowing drains in HCM City enter the main roads here and vehicle users (above) had a tough time negotiating the same.

By 9:00am the overnight downpours are over resulting in tire-deep flooding along many HCM City main thoroughfares and backing up traffic for dozens of city blocks.

At the intersection of Huynh Tan Phat - Nguyen Thi Thap, traffic jams stretch more than 3 kilometres.

Many workers trying to get to work find themselves simply stuck in knee deep water caused by the overnight storms with nowhere to turn for relief.
