Additional 13 Vietnamese rescued in human trafficking in Golden Triangle

VOV.VN - Police operating in the central province of Ha Tinh said on August 30 that they have co-operated alongside their Laotian counterparts to rescue 13 Vietnamese citizens who were victims of human trafficking in the Golden Triangle.

According to police forces, this was the result of the expanded investigation of cyber fraud ring in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone in the Laotian province of Bokeo.

Through a series of investigations, provincial police identified the aforementioned gang as a transnational criminal group involved in human trafficking which organised illegal border crossings and large-scale online fraud.

To recruit members, the gang’s leaders lured Vietnamese individuals into illegally entering the Golden Triangle Economic Zone by promising them the prospect of legitimate jobs with high salaries.

However, those who fell for the trap were instead forced to commit crimes for the organisation.

During the operation, officers apprehended a total of 162 suspects and rescued 36 victims.

A further investigation into the case is now underway.
