This remark was made at a workshop held in Hanoi on June 22 to review the project on managing the quality of water in the Day River Basin.
The project aims to address the most serious of the environmental pollution, which badly affects local residents in the area. It is part of a project to manage the Red River Basin which has received loans of US$70 million from the ADB.
The project’s chief advisor Dave Hebbethwaite said that the project has trained employees to conduct surveys and analyse the quality of the water, manage water resources in general, raise the public’s awareness oF water quality and draw up regulations and guidelines for licensing the discharge of waste water.
