The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide US$1.7 million under a technical assistance project to build two metro routes in Ho Chi Minh City.

Deputy Chairman of the HCM City Board for Inner-city Railways Le Hong Ha says the Ministry of Planning and Investment is considering the offer before submitting it to the Prime Minister for approval.

The US$965 million project to build the Ben Thanh-Tham Luong and Ben Thanh-Western Bus Station metro routes is one of the key projects to help ease traffic jams in the city, Mr Ha said.
The feasibility study for the project was conducted by Germany's Siemens Co and the TEWET Consultancy Company.
