About 2,800 passengers affected at Noi Bai as Middle East conflict disrupts flight
VOV.VN - Around 2,800 passengers at Noi Bai International Airport have had to adjust their travel plans after 13 flights operated by Middle Eastern carriers to and from Vietnam were canceled due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
A representative of Noi Bai International Airport said on March 2 that from February 28 to March 2, flights operated by Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad Airways were canceled, affecting approximately 2,800 passengers. Three aircraft from the carriers are currently parked at the airport awaiting further updates.
Upon receiving notification from the airlines, the airport updated cancellation information on flight information display systems and made public announcements to guide passengers who had already entered restricted areas to return and contact airline representatives directly.
For passengers who had not yet arrived at the airport, the airlines sent email notifications regarding cancellations and implemented support policies in accordance with their regulations.
Noi Bai International Airport is maintaining regular contact with the carriers to update the situation and has prepared plans to arrange long-term parking positions for aircraft unable to depart due to military activities in the Middle East.
The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has also considered reducing certain service charges related to aircraft parking. If the situation persists, ACV will continue to assess and adopt appropriate support measures.
Middle Eastern airlines operating in Vietnam have introduced passenger support policies, including ticket changes or refunds, and advised travelers to check flight status online before heading to the airport.
