The Investigation Agency under the Ministry of Public Security on July 24 expelled Vo Kevin Huan from Vietnam for spreading information against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Vo Kevin Huan or Vo Tan Huan, 25, was deported via Tan Son Nhat international airport in Ho Chi Minh City in the presence of representatives from the US General Consulate.

The police arrested the Vietnamese-born American citizen on July 16 and seized 103 pages of anti-State documents he was possessing.

Huan confessed that in February 2009, he joined the Viet Youth for Democracy led by Nguyen Tien Trung and Hoang Lan and wrote 8 stories for this organisation published in its journal.

He and some other accomplices from the organization joined online forums on March 28, 2009 and May 30, 2009 to discuss activities against the State.

In late June 2006, he was lured by Hoang Lan and Tran Mai Lan – key figures of Nguyen Sy Binh – into joining the US-based Democratic Party of Vietnam. While in the US, he colluded with some elements to write stories aimed at sabotaging the Vietnamese State.

He also met with Nguyen Sy Binh who assigned him to return to Vietnam to gather information and public opinions concerning the arrest of Nguyen Cong Dinh and Nguyen Tien Trung, as well as other issues related to Vietnam’s national security.

On July 10, 2009, Huan entered Vietnam and was arrested shortly afterwards for law-breaking activities. He admitted that he had violated the Vietnamese law and done harm to national security. He felt regret for his wrongdoings and begged the State for tolerance.
