A project to improve disaster preparedness is underway in 13 villages and wards of Da Nang City.

The project worth more than 95,000 euros is funded by the German Foreign Ministry and Malteser International.

The City’s Steering Board for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control says the knowledge and skills necessary to cope with natural disasters are limited in Da Nang city which is frequently hit by natural disasters. In particular, people in coastal and mountainous areas are short of early warning equipment and safe emergency shelters.

The project aims to improve disaster preparedness by providing early warning equipment, 13 electric mini-generators, 1,300 first aid kits and life-buoys, organizing disaster preparedness campaigns in schools and villages and conducting emergency evacuation drills.
