6 narrowly escape burning minibus in southern Vietnam

VOV.VN - A driver had a frightening experience Friday, August 25, when his minibus began spewing black smoke and flames, and moments later, became completely engulfed in southern Phu Yen Province.

According to the Vietnam News Agency, Phan Duc Thang, the bus driver, said the 19-seat minibus was travelling on Le Loi Street in the city of Tuy Hoa when he noted black smoke in the rear-view mirror rolling from the back of the bus.

He then saw flames shooting out from the front wheel wells, so he grabbed a fire extinguisher, ordered everyone out of the bus and went to where the flames were. Everyone was extremely lucky to get out safely.

It appears to have been a mechanical failure, said a fire official. It’s possible that the brake fluid ignited somehow, but we don’t know exactly what happened.

We got there shortly after it happened and it was a shocker to see what that minibus looked like. It was totally gone, said the official. The driver and passengers were very shaken up but thank goodness, they didn’t get hurt.
