Vietnam has so far discovered more than 5,000 deposits and occurrences, containing 60 different types of minerals, the Vietnam Geology and Minerals Department reported.

Of the minerals, bauxite reserves are estimated at 10 billion tonnes, rare earth at more than 9 million tonnes and titan at over 500 million tonnes.

The department is carrying out projects to discover new mines and define the potential of Vietnam’s mineral resources.

It will also implement projects on uranium exploration in Pa Lua-Pa Rong in Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province in the central regin, coal reserve survey in the northern region and bauxite resource survey in the southern region.
