5 dead, 2 injured after train hits taxi-car in Hanoi

VOV.VN - Five Vietnamese nationals were killed and two injured on the morning of October 24 when a north-south railway train hit a taxi-car at a crossing in the Thuong Tin District of Hanoi, authorities said.

Eye witnesses report that a 7-seat Honda CRV was hit by a train at approximately 5:30 a.m. in the town of Van Giap in Van Binh Commune.

Dead are Nguyen Duy Minh, 41, from Hanoi; Bui Van Can, 25, from Ninh Binh Province; Nguyen Phuong Huyen, 19, from Hanoi; and two sisters Nguyen Thi Kim Dung, 29, and Nguyen Thi Mai, 19, from Hanoi.

Nguyen Xuan Quy, 33, and Dang Duy Tung, 24, from Hanoi, were severely injured, and admitted to Viet Duc Hospital.

Major Nguyen Quang Vinh, head of Hanoi traffic police team number eight, said a crash investigation is ongoing.
