More than 4,200 HIV/AIDS-infected people have benefited from a project to strengthen community-based healthcare, consultancy, and support services launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Society and the Global Fund against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

The project was carried out from July 2005 to February 2006 in 16 districts of eight provinces and cities of Lang Son, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho and Kien Giang.

The project focused on helping high-risk groups change their awareness and behaviour and building a favourable healthcare environment for HIV/AIDS carriers to access healthcare and consultancy services so that they can better integrate into the community.
