Seven tombs dating back about 4,000 years have been found recently at the site to build the reservoir of the Son La hydroelectric-power plant in Chieng Bang commune, Quynh Nhai district in the northern mountainous province of Son La.

Scientists from the Vietnam Archaeology Institute said that those tombs are the most ancient ones discovered almost intact in the northwestern region.

The excavation team also unearthed 14 other relic sites with hundreds of artifacts such as ancient pottery and household utensils in the districts of Muong La, Thuan Chau and Quynh Nhai along the Da River.
