220-kg wartime bomb discovered in Quang Binh
VOV.VN - Competent forces have successfully deactivated a 220-kilogramme bomb which had been left over from the war in the central province of Quang Binh, Mines Advisory Group (MAG) in Vietnam said on January 4.
According to details of the incident, a local resident had found the bomb while farming in Hien Ninh commune of Quang Ninh district and subsequently reported it to the authorities.
Upon receiving a request from Quang Binh provincial Military Command, MAG co-operated with local authorities in order to safely remove the bomb, pending detonation in line with relevant regulations.
MAG experts revealed that the bomb was located about one metre underground and was also identified as an MK82 model. With an intact detonator, it posed a serious safety threat.
