2025 National Press Award on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control launched
VOV.VN - Sức khỏe và Đời sống (Health & Life) Newspaper, in collaboration with the Department of Disease Control under the Ministry of Health), launched the 2025 National Journalism Award on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control in Hanoi on September 8.

The award aims to recognise outstanding press works that contribute to raising public awareness and advancing Vietnam’s goal of ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030.
The competition encourages works that comprehensively reflect efforts in HIV/AIDS prevention and control across various aspects, including awareness-raising, prevention, testing, treatment, care, and support for people living with HIV. It also honours individuals, collectives, and innovative, effective models making significant contributions to this field.
The organisers expected that the selected press works would help combat stigma and discrimination related to HIV/AIDS, while promoting a spirit of compassion and community responsibility.
The deadline for submission will be November 20, and the award ceremony will be held on December 1, marking World AIDS Day this year.
According to representatives from the Ministry of Health, Vietnam is currently among the top four countries in the world with the highest quality HIV/AIDS treatment, alongside the UK, Germany, and Switzerland. Currently, 96% of people living with HIV in Vietnam have a viral load suppressed below the transmission threshold, significantly reducing community transmission.
However, over the past year, Vietnam still recorded more than 13,000 new HIV cases and nearly 2,000 AIDS-related deaths. Despite these challenges, the country has achieved notable progress, with 95% of people living with HIV enjoying health insurance, nearly 90% of those on antiretroviral therapy (ARV) having their treatment costs covered by the health insurance fund, and over 95% of those on ARV treatment having suppressed viral loads.
