2,000 Vietnamese students study in New Zealand

As many as 2,000 Vietnamese students are studying in New Zealand, the New Zealand Education revealed at a seminar recently held in Ho Chi Minh City to introduce opportunities in the country.

According to Sai Gon Giai phong (Liberated Saigon), the figure has surged 80% from two years ago.

A New Zealand education fair will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 19, gathering 40 prestigious establishments from high school to tertiary and post-tertiary level.

Apart from providing information about curricula, the event will also introduce scholarship opportunities offered by 12 high schools in the capital city of Wellington and universities, including the New Zealand ASEAN Scholar Awards – a full-time postgraduate scholarship available for candidates from selected ASEAN nations.

The scholarship is funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme and managed by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

New Zealand ranked ninth out of 138 countries for primary and higher education and training in the 2016-2017 edition of the Global Competitiveness Report published by the World Economic Forum.

The country placed 14th for maths and science majors, 18th for quality of research institutes and 19th for cooperation between educational institutes.
