An additional 180 people tested positive for the A/H1N1 virus on September 3, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Vietnam to 3,201. Of the total, two patients have died from the disease.

According to the Ministry of Health, the southern provinces have reported the largest number of patients (135), the central provinces (23), northern provinces (14) and the Central Highlands region (8).

1,473 patients have already been released from hospital after receiving treatment. The remaining 1,726 are still in quarantine for further treatment and all are in a stable condition.

As the new academic year begins, the ministry has warned schools to immediately isolate any pupils who tests positive for the A/H1N1 virus and to treat them locally, in order to restrict the spread of the virus.
