Vietnam has confirmed 1,158 cases of H1N1, with 43 new infections reported on August 9, according to the Preventive Medical Department.

27 of the new cases were from the Southern provinces, eight from the North, two from the central region and six people from the Central Highlands.

635 patients have been discharged from hospitals and the other 523 are in quarantine and still receiving treatment in medical centres and communities. All of them are still in stable condition.

So far there has only been one fatality in Vietnam.

The Health Ministry has warned families and schools across the country to check children’s health everyday.

Suspected cases should be reported to school Board and kept in quarantine.

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), by August 9, 206,987 cases of H1N1 were recorded in 168 countries and territories and 1,673 of them have died.
