Vice Minister of Post and Telematics Le Nam Thang said the 10th conference on Radio and Electronics will offer a good opportunity for Vietnamese and foreign scientists to strengthen cooperation with a view to boost the application of information and communication technology into daily life.

The 10th Conference on Radio and Electronics (REV 2006) opened in Hanoi on November 6. Present at the conference were 20 prestigious scientists from the US, Japan and the Republic of Korea.  The conference will hear more than 80 reports on the latest advances and development trends in the areas.


Prof. Roberto Saracco, Director for Trends and Scientific Communications from Telecom Italy is expected to deliver a report on technology evolution and its impact on the business during the conference.


Prof. Bumman Kim from the Pohang University of Science and Technology of the Republic of Korea will discuss transmitters for wireless communications and Prof. Yoshinori Sakai from Japan's Tokyo Institute of Technology, on the seamless multimedia network.


The conference's agenda also includes a discussion on how to improve the efficiency of Vietnam's VINASAT satellite which will be launched in the future.

The two-day conference is organised by the Radio Electrics Association of Vietnam (REV) under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Post and Telematics and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations.


In future, REV will strengthen cooperation in the field of research, education and training with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. Communications Society (IEEE ComSoc) and the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers of Japan.


As part of the conference, seminars and an exhibition on new IT and telecommunications products will also be held.
