More than 1 millions pupils from all over the country have begun their high school graduation examinations, starting with literature on June 2.

The exams from June 2-4 include six subjects of Literature, Mathematics, History, Geography, Chemistry and Foreign languages (English, Russian and French, Chinese, German and Japanese).

The Vice director of the Examinations and Quality Appraisal Department of the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), Tran Van Nghia, said that the questions in the literature exam are open in the same form as last year to bring out creativeness in the students.

According to MoET’s statistics, more than 1 million pupils will sit exams at 1,233 venues in 44,000 exam rooms. The total number of supervising staff is nearly 128,700.

The Ministry has reduced its supervisory staff from 9,000 in 2009 to around 600 this year but more supervisors will be provided by provincial departments.

Due to the hot weather and the nation grid becoming overloaded, the electricity company has promised that it will ensure stable supply of electricity to the venues.
