People’s trust- source of the Party’s strength

VOV.VN - The Party’s leadership is not only stipulated in the Constitution; more sacred and more vital is the fact that the Party lives in the hearts of the people. This is a historical process and the most fundamental issue from the founding of the Party to the present day, and for all time to come.

Core and vital value
At a time when the entire Party, the entire people and the entire armed forces are sharing the joy of the successful conclusion of the 14th National Party Congress, the idea of the “Party in the hearts of the people” is no longer merely a political concept of a theoretical nature. It has become a concrete measure of trust, social consensus and national strength in a new period of development.

Discussing the substance and significance of this concept in the current context, Ho Quang Loi, former head of the Hanoi Party Committee’s Propaganda Department, stressed that the country is entering a special spring marked by milestones of long-term historical significance.

After 40 years of renovation, Vietnam has accumulated new strength and momentum, both internal and external, sufficient to step into a new era of development. For this reason, recent Party congresses, particularly the 13th and 14th, have not only borne the imprint of individual terms, but have also carried the imprint of an era of development.

People have awaited and placed high expectations on Party congresses, and practice shows that each success of a congress is welcomed by society with optimism and confidence in the country’s future under the Party’s leadership.

Looking back on nearly a century of the formation and development of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Ho Quang Loi affirmed that the relationship between the Party and the people is a core issue of vital importance.

“The Party was founded for the people and for the nation; its ideals originate from the aspiration for national independence and the happiness of the people. Therefore, the interests of the people are the interests of the Party, and have remained the Party’s enduring goal throughout all historical periods,” he said.

Through periods of difficulty and challenge, even times of extreme hardship, the Party has endured and developed because it has lived in the hearts of the people, protected, supported and trusted by them.

The recognition of the Party’s leadership role in the Constitution and the law is the institutionalisation of a historical reality: the Party has been in the hearts of the people. However, Ho Quang Loi noted that what is most sacred and important lies not in legal provisions alone, but in whether that reality truly lives among the people. Practice has clearly demonstrated this.

One of the most prominent current issues, he said, is the reform to streamline the organizational apparatus of the political system, which is being implemented on an unprecedented scale and with unprecedented determination.

The organisation of local government under a two-tier model represents a major change, directly affecting citizens and businesses. Initial confusion is unavoidable, as are difficulties in handling administrative procedures, particularly in a context where digital transformation remains uneven across social groups. Even so, practice is showing that this direction is unavoidable, as the ultimate goal is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of national governance, shifting from “management” to “development facilitation”.

More importantly, this reform has gained public support because it is directly linked to people’s essential interests: social security, education, healthcare, employment, income and quality of life. Policies on healthcare, improving education quality, raising teachers’ salaries; the construction of thousands of schools in remote, border and island areas; and programmes supporting communities in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters all serve as clear evidence of the Party’s people-centred nature.

“During the recent storms and floods, many people lost their homes, and the Government mobilised resources to support them. I was deeply moved by images of the armed forces rapidly building houses for residents in what was known as the ‘Quang Trung campaign’. People understand that an elite force of the Party carried out this work, putting into practice the Party’s ideal of serving the people. Those who move into these newly built homes will understand that this is an achievement of the renovation process under the Party’s leadership, and that the country is moving in a direction centred on the people and their happiness,” Ho Quang Loi said.

“Unmatched strength” in a new era

The country now stands before a major opportunity for breakthrough, as the world undergoes rapid change driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, particularly artificial intelligence and new technologies. If opportunities are not seized and leapfrog development is not achieved, the risk of falling behind is real.

The 14th National Party Congress is a congress of trust, aspiration and action, where the spirit of national renewal has been strongly awakened. For this reason, every cadre, Party member and citizen, in their respective positions, bears responsibility for contributing to the common cause-this is the most practical way to lead the country into a new era.

In this journey, the people’s trust in the Party is an invaluable asset. To safeguard and build upon that asset, the Party must continuously renew and rectify itself, resolutely combat corruption, waste and negative practices, and build a clean and strong Party closely bound to the people.

When the people trust the Party and the Party acts for the people, that trust becomes an unmatched source of strength, ensuring that the country can overcome difficulties and successfully achieve its strategic goals: by 2030, becoming a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income; and by 2045, becoming a developed, high-income nation.

The path ahead is clear: national independence associated with socialism-the path chosen by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh and proven correct by practice. With the Party’s resolve, the strength of great national unity and broad social consensus, Vietnam has a solid foundation to realise its aspiration for a prosperous and strong country, democracy, fairness and civilisation in the new era.
