Party chief: Da Nang must become international trade hub

VOV.VN - Party General Secretary To Lam has emphasized that Da Nang must position itself as an international trade hub, a prime destination for investors and tourists, and a center for talent and innovation.

He made this statement at a ceremony held on March 29 at Tien Son Sports Palace to mark the 95th anniversary of the Da Nang city’s Party Organisation, the 50th anniversary of Da Nang’s liberation, and the presentation of the First-Class Labor Order.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Party chief presented the prestigious order to Da Nang’s Party Committee, authorities, and residents in recognition of their outstanding achievements in digital transformation, tourism development, and social welfare, contributions that have played a vital role in national development and defence.

In his speech, To Lam praised Da Nang for its remarkable accomplishments over the years. He affirmed that the city holds a crucial position in Vietnam’s history of nation-building and defence, thanks to its geopolitical and economic significance, as well as its rich cultural heritage and resilient people.

The Party and State greatly appreciate the unwavering patriotism, revolutionary spirit, and immense sacrifices made by the locals and armed forces of Da Nang throughout the nation’s history.

The Party leader said that the trust and support of Da Nang’s people provide the foundation for the city’s continued rapid and comprehensive development. He noted that Da Nang’s achievements not only benefit the city itself but also contribute significantly to the broader growth of the region and the entire country.

To Lam also pointed out that Vietnam’s strategic development goals place new demands on socio-economic reforms, requiring greater determination from the Party, State, and people, particularly in Da Nang. He underlined the need to embrace national pride and the aspiration for a prosperous nation while recognizing the new opportunities ahead for the city.

The central government has placed high expectations on Da Nang, offering numerous preferential policies and special mechanisms, including administrative restructuring and urban expansion, to facilitate rapid and sustainable growth driven by science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

"The city must focus on developing a high-quality workforce, attracting experts in technology and finance, and providing skilled labor to meet market and investor demands. This should be regarded as Da Nang’s most powerful tool for transformation and progress in the digital era," he stressed.

Earlier in the day, General Secretary To Lam and his delegation paid an inspection visit to the Lien Chieu Port development project and toured Da Nang’s Software Park No. 2 to learn more about its operations.

During the visit, FPT Group leaders reported to the Party chief that, in response to the Party and government’s call for innovation and technological advancement under Resolution No. 57, the company has been implementing comprehensive cooperation programs with Da Nang. These efforts focus on research, training, and the development of advanced technologies, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors.

Most recently, on March 27, FPT inaugurated its R&D Center for high-tech and semiconductor technology, aiming to establish a technology hub for developing cutting-edge products and advancing research, testing, and semiconductor packaging.

Together with Da Nang’s Semiconductor and AI Research & Training Center (DSAC), FPT’s R&D Center is set to become a driving force for innovation in the city. These institutions are fostering a dynamic startup ecosystem, bringing together top experts to develop pioneering technologies under the "Make in Vietnam – Make in Da Nang" initiative, with the ultimate goal of developing Da Nang  into Vietnam’s "Silicon Bay" and a key technology hub in the region.
