The 17th Assembly of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) has called on its members as well as youth, students and people around the world to participate in the struggle for justice for Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.

In a resolution issued at its closing session in Hanoi on March 13, the WFDY expressed concern about the heavy consequences of the war waged by the US decades ago. They voiced strong support for the Vietnamese Agent Orange victims' lawsuit against 37 American companies that manufactured and supplied herbicides containing dioxin to the US military for use during the war in Vietnam.

It is the Vietnamese people who have suffered the most, especially from severe birth defects and diseases like non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and soft tissue sarcoma, delegates said in the resolution.

They urged progressive people all over the world, especially youth, to step up the struggle against weapons of mass destruction, including chemical weapons.

“We call upon our comrades, friends and progressive people to join international campaign that will bring to account those responsible for the disaster.”
