VOV strives for fast, new, standard and interesting reporting

The Press Association Chapter at VOV celebrated the 86th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day at the National Radio Centre on June 21, praising the achievements of its members and presenting the awards for the winners of VOV’s journalism contest.

The ceremony was attended by VOV’s new Director General Nguyen Dang Tien, and former VOV chief Vu Van Hien, who is now Vice President of the Central Theoretical Council.

Addressing the event, Nguyen Chu Nhac, head of the press chapter, reviewed the history of Vietnamese journalism since President Ho Chi Minh founded Thanh Nien (Youth) Newspaper.

The VOV Journalists' Association branch now has more than 500 members, who have played an important role in the national broadcaster’s strong and comprehensive renovation and in propagating the policies of the Party and State. VOV journalists have also actively fought against social evils and refuted wrongful allegations by hostile forces. They also go to many of the country’s ‘hot spots’ to provide their audiences and readers with the latest news.

Mr Nhac said VOV media staff have won many prizes in national press competitions.

VOV Director General Tien said that VOV staff have helped develop VOV into one of the core media of the Party and State.

On this occasion, the VOV chief expressed his hope that VOV journalists will continue to strive towards the goal of producing standard, quick, up-to-date, and appealing reporting.

The same day, the Press chapter held a charitable fair to raise funds for disadvantaged children.
