Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) officially handed over a broadcasting station for northern Laos to the Lao Ministry of Information and Culture on March 8.
The ceremony, held in the former Lao capital of Luang Prabang, was attended by VOV Director General Vu Van Hien and Lao Deputy Minister of Information and Culture Bosengkham Vongdala.
The Luang Prabang station project was built on an area of nearly 12,000m2 at a cost of more than VND57 billion from the Vietnamese government’s non-refundable aid for the 2006-2010 period.
The station can transmit broadcasting signals to the entire provinces in northern Laos.
The project was part of the 2009 agreement on economic, cultural and technological cooperation signed by the Vietnamese and Lao governments.
