The National Assembly’s reform efforts along with voters’ contribution and supervision will improve the operations of the legislative body, says Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The Party chief emphasized this while meeting with voters in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, and Tay Ho districts on December 1.

During the meeting, voters spoke highly of the outcomes of the recent NA session, which fulfilled its agenda after a month sitting. They said that the legislature has successfully upheld its tradition and improved its operations.

Voters expressed their confidence in the NA’s reforms and the sound leadership of the Party, State, and NA, which they said lays a firm foundation for stable socio-economic development, poverty reduction, and the protection of national sovereignty.

They said the question-and-answer session took place in a frank manner, demonstrating the responsibilities of both deputies and Cabinet ministers.

Hanoi voters asked the NA to take measures to translate its resolutions and adopted bills into life.

They also expressed their concern over hot issues such as corruption, traffic jams, urban planning, environmental pollution, and the gap between rich and poor.

Mr Trong acknowledged voters’ ideas and shared the views that several cabinet ministers’ answers had not lived up to their expectations.

The Party leader also agreed that the NA, its agencies and deputies should do all they can to promote the effectiveness of its supervision activities.
