Vo Thi Anh Xuan holds position of Acting President for second time
VOV.VN - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan is to hold the position of Acting President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam until the National Assembly (NA) elects a new President.

At the 6th extraordinary session held in Hanoi on March 21, the NA Standing Committee issued an announcement on exercising the rights of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Accordingly, VP Xuan will assume the position of Acting President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from March 21 until the NA elects a new President.
Xuan was assigned to hold the position after the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) agreed to let Vo Van Thuong step down from his positions.
On March 21, the 15the legislature also dismissed the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021 to 2026 tenure and moved to relieve Thuong of his duties as a deputy to the 15th NA.
This is the second time Vo Thi Anh Xuan holds the acting presidential position. Previously, she was assigned to serve as Acting President for two months from January to March 2023.
Vo Thi Anh Xuan was born in 1970 in Tinh Bien district of An Giang province. She served as an alternate member of the 11th Party Central Committee and member of the 12th and 13th Party Central Committee, and NA deputy of the 14th and 15th legislature.
Acting President Xuan once held the positions of vice chairwoman of An Giang provincial People's Committee, deputy secretary of An Giang provincial Party Committee, and secretary of An Giang provincial Party Committee.
At the last session of the 14th National Assembly, Xuan was elected to hold the position of Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2016 to 2021 tenure, replacing Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.
At the first session, the 15th National Assembly continued to elect her as Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021 to 2026 tenure.
Also at the 6th extraordinary session , the 15th legislature considered the relief of Thuong from the Presidency of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the 2021 - 2026 tenure and from the post of an NA deputy of Da Nang city.
NA deputies also listened to the NA Standing Committee’s report on the relief of Tran Tuan Anh from the post of an NA deputy of Khanh Hoa province.
They also considered the dismissal of Hoang Thi Thuy Lan from the post of an NA deputy of Vinh Phuc province.
After listening to the reports, proposals, and a speech by Thuong, the legislature discussed, conducted a secret ballot, and adopted a resolution on the relief of Thuong from the Presidency of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the 2021 - 2026 tenure, and from the post of an NA deputy of Da Nang.
The NA also adopted a resolution on the dismissal of Lan from the post of an NA deputy of Vinh Phuc province.
