VN1 radio transmitter station marks its 30th anniversary
Over the past 30 years, the VN1 Radio Transmitter station (Radio VN1) has broadcast more than 600,000 hours worth of programmes, including both internal and external programmes.
On May 14, Radio VN1 held a meeting in Son Tay town, Hanoi, to mark its 30th anniversary and to receive a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister.

Thirty years ago on May 14, 1980, leaders of Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and the Embassy of the former Soviet Union signed a memo confirming that broadcast equipment was installed, tested and ready to be put into operation. Since then Radio VN1 has been one of VOV’s biggest stations, and May 14 has become a traditional day for Radio VN1.

On August 29, 2009, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, accompanied by other Party and State leaders, pressed a button to launch an East Sea broadcasting project which makes radio programmes available to soldiers on islands and millions of fishermen.
At today’s ceremony, VOV general director Vu Van Hien praised the efforts of Radio VN1’s staff in developing, managing and exploiting its broadcast equipment to deserve the honours presented by the Party and State.
Mr Hien said in the coming years, VOV and Radio VN1 will do their utmost to fulfill tasks set by the Party and State.
