The event, co-organized by the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Germany KAS institute, was focused on international experiences and suggestions for Vietnam in the field of protecting human rights.
The scientists discussed issues such as compliance with and implementation of international law, some essential legal principles, interdisciplinary approach to human rights and human rights protection, and building a national agency on human rights.
Dr Vo Khanh Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, held it that the protection of human rights should be judged from the inter- and multi-disciplinary angle, in connection with natural sciences and technologies as well as social sciences and other legal sectors.
Currently there are three groups of subjects ensuring human rights, namely economic establishments and mechanism, state institutions and mechanism, and civil society organizations.
Scientists emphasized that in the present context it’s essential to establish a national agency on human rights in the model of a national human rights committee set up by the National Assembly on the basis of the Constitution and Law.
The process of such an establishment should consult scientists, international human rights organizations, and other countries.
