Sixty seven years ago on August 28, late President Ho Chi Minh announced the establishment of a provisional government including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since then, August 28 has been observed annually as Traditional Day of the Vietnamese diplomatic sector.
In his speech, Vietnamese ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung highlighted the active contributions by the diplomatic sector to the past struggle for national liberation and unification and the current process of national development to promote Vietnam’s image in the international arena.
He attributed the diplomatic sector's achievements during the past 67 years to the wise leadership of the Party and State and close coordination between all ministries and sectors.
One of 90 Vietnamese representative offices abroad, the diplomatic office in France, established in 1959 as the precursor to the trade representative office, has spared no effort to strengthen relations between Vietnam and France, Dung said.
