Vietnam’s Anti-Corruption Initiative programme for 2011 was introduced at a seminar in Hanoi on December 21.
The programme, themed “Enhancing public integrity and law enforcement to combat corruption effectively” includes a creativity contest and a knowledge exchange. It aims to seek and assist potential initiatives that can be developed in localities.
At the seminar, the President of the Hanoi Psychology Scientific Association, Dr Nguyen Tung Lam, recommended solutions to prevent and combat corruption in education, including the establishment of an organisation to publicise school’s financial activities and assess education quality.
The Deputy Director of the Research and Training Centre for Community Development, Tran Thi Thu Ha, highlighted the role of non-governmental and social organisations as well as women, farmers and education associations in putting forward practical initiatives to combat corruption.
The Deputy Head of the Government Inspectorate’s Anti-Corruption Department, Ngo Manh Hung, emphasised the need to have a commendation policy for those involved in fighting corruption.
