Leaders of the People's Army of Vietnam and the Royal Armed Forces of Thailand have decided to maintain and develop the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two militaries in various fields.

The Supreme Commander of the Thai Royal Armed Forces, Gen. Boonsrang Niumpradit, and the Chief of General Staff of the People's Army of Vietnam, Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Khac Nghien agreed at their meeting in Hanoi on January 4 to further cooperate in sea patrols, search and rescue of fishermen, sports competition, training and other issues of common concern.


The two generals also briefed each other on the social, economic, national defence and security situation in their countries.

The same day, General Boonsrang Niumpradit who has been in Vietnam at the invitation of Lieut. Gen Nguyen Khac Nghien paid a courtesy visit to Sen. Lieut. Gen. Phung Quang Thanh, Minister of National Defence.
