Vietnamese State leader receives Indonesia-Vietnam Friendship Association President
VOV.VN - President Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Budiarsa Sastrawinata, president of the Indonesia - Vietnam Friendship Association, on December 23 within the framework of his ongoing State visit to Indonesia.
The Vietnamese State leader hailed the various contributions made by the association, including Sastrawinata personally who also serves as managing director of Ciputra Group, in promoting the two countries’ friendship.
He outlined that in his successful talks held with President Joko Widodo, the two sides affirmed that promoting cultural co-operation and exchanges of people, localities, and businesses have always been an important foundation in terms of developing the bilateral strategic partnership.
Vietnam therefore welcomes and will offer favourable conditions for Indonesian businesses to invest in the Vietnamese market, with a strong desire to see more Indonesian enterprises pouring capital into the country. Areas of focus include environmental protection and sustainable development, in accordance with the law on the basis of mutual benefits, added President Phuc.
Sastrawinata said he hopes Vietnamese agencies will maintain support for his association’s operations, as well as providing assistance to Indonesian firms in developing production and business activities in the country.
He proposed that agencies of both sides back sustainable development initiatives and joint projects between universities, thereby contributing to improving the quality of human resources, supporting the organisation of Indonesian art exhibitions in Vietnam, and promoting people-to-people exchanges.
Moving towards the 10th anniversary of the bilateral Strategic Partnership in 2023, President Phuc suggested that the association continue to work alongside the Vietnam - Indonesia Friendship Association, the Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia, as well as the Embassy of Vietnam in Indonesia to actively promote economic connectivity. This will therefore encourage Indonesian businesses to expand their investment and business in Vietnam.
He requested that the association strive to support the establishment of more twinning relations between the two countries’ localities as a means of contributing to intensifying people-to-people exchanges, as well as boosting economic, trade, investment, and tourism co-operation.
