Lao National Assembly chairman welcomes Vietnamese State President
VOV.VN - Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane warmly welcomed President Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Vientiane on August 10, saying Phuc’s visit to Laos will help further tighten the close relationship between the two countries.
He spoke highly of the great and comprehensive achievements that the Vietnamese people have recorded in socio-economic development and international integration in recent times, and wished Vietnam great successes in the time to come.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc congratulated Laos on the success of the 9th national congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and its recently held general election to elect deputies to the 9th National Assembly.
He highly appreciated the results of the first session of the 9th National Assembly of Laos, which had adopted key leadership positions and national development plans for the 2021-2025 period.
Both host and guest were pleased to see that despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the legislative bodies of the two countries have maintained contact and exchanges, shared expertise, coordinated closely in monitoring implementation of agreements and supported each other at regional and international parliamentary forums.
On this occasion, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc respectfully conveyed Vietnam National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue’s invitation to Saysomphone Phomvihane to pay an official visit to Vietnam soon.
Earlier in the morning, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc laid a wreath at the Unknown Soldiers Monument in Vientiane.
