At a meeting with his counterpart, Mr. Thongbanh Sengaphone, the two ministers briefed on both countries’ political and socio-economic situations. They then reviewed and proposed the two ministries’ cooperation plan in the future.

The two sides agreed to exchange information on combating crime and raising public awareness to follow the two countries’ laws and customs. They also discussed implementing the economic, cultural, scientific and technological cooperation agreement signed in 2011 and work with both countries’ related agencies to give priority to foreign tourists traveling to Vietnam and Laos through a third country.

Vietnam and Laos will work closely together to prevent drug trafficking, ensure security at the border regions and create a peaceful, friendly, cooperative border line between the two countries, as well as supporting each other on international arenas.

The Vietnamese ministry pledged to help Laos train its staff and provide them with technical equipment.
