The Chairman of the 13th National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Sinh Hung received his Lao counterpart Pany Yathotu, who is on an official visit to Vietnam, in Hanoi on August 25.

NA Chairman Hung, who is also a Party Politburo member, warmly welcomed Ms. Yathotu, who is conducting her first official visit since being elected as Lao NA Chairman. He said their meeting further strengthened the special Vietnam-Laos relationship which has always been consolidated and generated mutual benefits for the two countries’ national construction and development.

The Lao NA Chairman expressed her delight in visiting Vietnam and congratulated Mr. Hung on his election as Chairman of the 13th National Assembly.

Both sides briefed each other about their countries’ situation and the two NA’s operation. They expressed their pleasure with the development of the relationship between the two Parties, States, and peoples, as well as the two NAs’ efforts in co-organising bilateral and multilateral cooperation programmes in the spirit of the cooperation agreement signed by Vietnamese and Lao NA leaders in 2007.

The two chairpersons said they will make greater efforts to promote the cooperation between Vietnamese and Lao NA and NA agencies through exchanging experience in law making and supreme supervision.

They also agreed to stimulate a Vietnam-sponsored project to build the Lao NA Headquarters so that it will be completed as scheduled.

On the same day, the Lao NA delegation laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum before meeting with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang.
