At the symposium in Tokyo on Nov. 8, To Huy Rua, a politburo member and Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, delivered a speech on socialism in the context of globalization and international integration.
Mr Rua said that changes in the modern world have required changes in the understanding and shaping of new concepts on socialism.
He said the Communist Party of Vietnam has been clearly aware of new tendencies and characteristics of movement and changes of the modern world and their impacts and influences on the development of all nations.
Accordingly, the Party has paid attention to combining international factors with Vietnam’s specific characteristics, national power and strength to boost renewal in transition to socialism.
In his presentation, Tetsuzo Fuwa, former President of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) and Head of the JCP’s Social Science Institute, raised practical issues and challenges arising in theoretical, economic, political, social, and environmental fields in the period of transition to socialism.
Analysing the development process in several socialist countries, Fuwa noted that communist parties need to continue conducting theoretical studies on development through practical activities in order to build on the previous fruits of development in the face of challenges of the modern era.
