VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Brunei Darussalam hosted a ceremony on August 30 to celebrate the 81st National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945-September 2, 2026).
The event was attended by the Cambodian Ambassador to Brunei, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Lao Embassy in Brunei, international friends, and members of the Vietnamese community in Brunei.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Do Thuy Duong recalled the historical moment on September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. She expressed pride in the country's 81-year journey of construction, defence, and development.
The Ambassador affirmed that friendly relations and all-around cooperation between Vietnam and Brunei Darussalam continue to see positive development and gain further depth.
Within overall bilateral relations, she emphasized that people-to-people exchanges and the Vietnamese community in Brunei play an important role in strengthening friendship and ties between the two nations.
Looking toward the 35th anniversary of Vietnam-Brunei diplomatic relations in 2027, Ambassador Do Thuy Duong expressed her wish that the Vietnamese community in Brunei continue to join efforts and work alongside the Embassy in commemorative activities.
She encouraged community members to actively contribute practical initiatives to promote Vietnam's image, boost people-to-people exchanges, and further deepen the Vietnam-Brunei Comprehensive Partnership.
