The senior leaders of Vietnam and China have exchanged telegrams of congratulations on the 61st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries (January 18, 1950).

The messages were sent by Vietnam’s General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, and China’s President-cum-General Secretary Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem also exchanged congratulatory telegrams with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi.

Vietnamese Ambassador to China Nguyen Van Tho, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Sun Guoxiang and the Vietnam-China Friendship Association and its Chinese counterpart organized friendship meetings.
