A group of Canadian parliamentarians led by Thai Thi Lac, a Vietnamese-Canadian parliamentarian, is on a working visit to Vietnam.

The visit helped the Canadian parliamentarians better understand Vietnam’s socio-economic development and acknowledge prospects for bilateral cooperation, especially in investment and economics, Thai Thi Lac told Vu Xuan Hong, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, during their meeting in Hanoi on July 15.

Chairman Hong, who is also head of the Vietnam-Canada friendship parliamentarians’ group, and the Canadian parliamentarians shared experience and cooperation in law making between the two countries’ parliaments.

They stressed the need to maintain the exchange of visits to enhance relations between the two legislative bodies.

Chairman Hong said he hopes that Thai Thi Lac, the first female parliamentarian of the Vietnamese overseas community in Canada and one example of the success of Vietnamese expatriates, would make contributions to fostering future Vietnam-Canada relations.
