An agreement on cooperation between the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) was signed in Hanoi on March 26 by VNA General Director Nguyen Quoc Uy and BTA General Director Maxim Minchev.

Under the agreement, the two sides will exchange daily information on current events in English on the Internet, exchange high-level delegations and reporters, and provide professional support for correspondents of the two news agencies while working in the other country.


VNA General Director Nguyen Quoc Uy affirmed that the agreement will help the agency disseminate enrich its information about Bulgaria, the Balkan peninsula and Europe as well as other regions. The exchange of information between VNA and BTA will not only help increase mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Bulgarian people but also create opportunities for businesses of the two countries to seek investment opportunities, particularly in tourism cooperation.


BTA General Director Maxim Minchev said that the agreement will help the Bulgarian mass media provide the public with more information about Vietnam and Southeast Asian nations as a whole. He affirmed that Vietnam is Bulgaria's important partner in the region and that Bulgaria is also Vietnam's major interest because more than 20,000 Vietnamese have studied and worked in Bulgaria.


The two sides agreed that the agreement will serve as a legal framework for stronger development of cooperation between the two news agencies, which have seen fine development of friendly relations, in accordance with the two countries' foreign policies in the new stage.
