Vietnamese, Belarusian legislators meet on 80th National Day occasion
VOV.VN - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man on September 1 received Igor Sergeenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, who is leading a Belarusian delegation to Vietnam to attend a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

The top Vietnamese legislator showed his elation at meeting with Chairman Sergeenko again following their meeting on the sidelines of the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45) in Laos last October. He appreciated Belarus sending high-ranking delegations to Vietnam’s major events in recent years, describing this as a vivid demonstration of the enduring solidarity, loyalty, and valuable support of the Belarusian people for Vietnam, both during its struggle for independence and liberation in the past, as well as in its ongoing national construction and development.
Congratulating Belarus on its achievements across multiple fields, Chairman Man briefed his guest on Vietnam’s progress, highlighting the NA’s ongoing reforms and proactive institutionalisation of the Party and State’s guidelines to usher the country into a new era, the era of national advancement.
Highlighting the historic significance of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), Chairman Sergeenko expressed his honour at visiting Vietnam and attending the celebrations.
The Belarusian guest congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, while expressing appreciation for the warm welcome extended by the country and its people.
Sharing updates on Belarus–Vietnam partnerships in trade, investment, industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and tourism, Chairman Sergeenko reaffirmed the Belarusian NA’s commitment to strengthening all-around cooperation and parliamentary co-operation with Vietnam. He proposed that the two legislatures enhance experience-sharing in law-making. On this occasion, he also invited Chairman Man to pay an official visit to Belarus in the near future.

Appreciating the development of bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially following the state visit to Belarus by Party General Secretary To Lam and the establishment of the Strategic Partnership in May 2025, the two leaders agreed to encourage both legislatures to continue close coordination to concretize existing agreements and the substance of the Strategic Partnership.
In the immediate term, they stressed the need to complete a roadmap for cooperation for 2025–2027; step up cooperation through parliamentary channels, focusing on finalising discussions and progressing toward the signing of a new cooperation agreement; and enhance the role of the Friendship Parliamentarians’ Groups of both countries as a bridge to promote exchanges, mutual understanding, and closer ties between Vietnamese and Belarusian lawmakers.
They also agreed to facilitate, institutionalise, and oversee the implementation of signed cooperation documents, contributing to further deepening bilateral relations, while boosting collaboration at multilateral parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
