The two leaders expressed their belief that Vietnam-Thailand relations will grow and blossom in the future and pledged to well organise activities for the 35th anniversary of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic ties, maintain bilateral mechanisms to deepen bilateral cooperation.
The Thai FM praised Vietnam’s 2010 ASEAN Chair and noted with satisfaction the results achieved at the multilateral forums.
The two diplomats reaffirmed their determination to promote regional connectivity, finalise the building of an ASEAN community by 2015 and to elevate ASEAN’s status at international forums. They agreed to exert more coordinated efforts to increase cooperation under the framework of the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC).
Mr Piromya briefed Mr Khiem on settling border dispute between Thailand and Cambodia.
Mr Khiem said Vietnam welcomes Thailand and Cambodia’s consent to hold a meeting of the Common Border Committee between the two countries in Indonesia on April 7-8 and wishes that the two sides will continue to deal with differences through peaceful negotiations based on the basic principles of international law and the UN Charter, for the sake of peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.
They compared notes on international and regional issues of mutual concern while affirming that they will continue to promote cooperation at regional and international forums.
