Both provinces have been cooperating with each other for many years, especially in economics and culture.

Seven Chinese businesses are currently operating in Lao Cai province, and hundreds of Vietnamese students are studying in Yunnan.

According to Bui Quang Binh, the Deputy Director of Lao Cai’s Department for External Affairs, this year, Lao Cao will host an economic cooperation conference for Lao Cai, Hanoi and Hai Phong provinces of Vietnam, and Yunnan of China. This is an annual event, which is held in rotation.
