The President of the Vietnam Women’s Union, who is leading a delegation on an official visit to Laos, arrived in Vientiane on July 13.

The Vietnamese women delegation and the Lao Women’s Union delegation discussed and exchanged preparations for the up-coming women’s national congress.

The two sides also shared their experiences in poverty alleviation and the fight against the cross-border trafficking of women and children as well as building houses and establishing a credit fund for poor women.

The two delegations committed themselves to promoting information exchanges and personnel training programmes.

The Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to work with women’s unions in Savannakhet province and Vientiane city and visit the Lao General Secretary-cum-State President Choummaly Sayasone.
