Mr Dung thanked Egypt for its support for Vietnam’s recent entry into the World Trade Organisation and said the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries has developed positively in recent years.
However, he noted that bilateral trade exchanges remained modest and failed to match the strong political ties and potential of the two countries. He said Vietnam and Egypt should further boost cooperation in tourism, aquaculture, agriculture, pharmaceutical production and education and training.
He asked the two sides to create favourable conditions for their agencies, organisations and business circles to exchange visits and seek specific measures to fully tap their potential, particularly in the areas of economics and trade.
Mrs Fayza Aboulnaga briefed Mr Dung on the results of the third session of the Joint Vietnam-Egypt Committee in Hanoi, focusing on measures to enhance cooperation in aquaculture, pharmaceutical manufacturing, tourism and agriculture which are of the two countries’ strengths.
“Egypt wants to strengthen traditional friendship and long-term cooperation with Vietnam in all areas for the interests of the two countries’ people,” said Mrs Aboulnaga.
The Egyptian minister conveyed the Egyptian Prime Minister’s invitation to visit Egypt to PM Nguyen Tan Dung.
