Vietnam willing to foster cooperation with Egypt
Vietnam wants to boost cooperation with Egypt in various fields, including agriculture, trade, investment, seafood, and oil and gas, said Deputy Foreign Minister (FM) Doan Xuan Hung.
Mr Hung made the statement during working sessions with Egyptian officials in Egypt on June 26 in a bid to lift bilateral cooperation to a new height.
During his meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, the Vietnamese diplomat conveyed Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s regards and affirmed Vietnam’s respect for Egypt’s political process.

While working with Egyptian Deputy FM Wafaa Baseem, Mr Hung emphasised that Vietnam gives top priority to tightening relations with Egypt and other countries in Africa. The exchange of visits between the two countries’ top leaders in the future will help boost bilateral ties, he added.
The Vietnamese delegation included representatives from the Military Telecom
Group (Viettel) and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), which are very interested in investing in Egypt.
Mr Hung said Viettel is ready to invest billions of US dollar in the telecom sector in Egypt, and PetroVietnam is keen on cooperation with Egyptian businesses in exploring oil and gas.
Deputy FM Baseem appreciated the Vietnamese delegation’s visit to Egypt at a time when Egypt is facing numerous difficulties.
She expressed her wish to expand external relations with Asia, especially with Vietnam. Egypt is eager to cooperate with Vietnam in all fields and develop bilateral ties to full advantage, she stated.
Ms Baseem stressed that Vietnam-Egypt cooperative relations will continue to develop despite numerous difficulties.
On the occasion, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development worked with Deputy Minister of International Cooperation Nabil Abdel Amid, and senior officials of Egypt’s seafood sector.

They discussed measures to promote cooperation in the seafood sector and voiced their determination to increase two-way trade turnover in the coming time.
